My path to running a travel company is a bit unconventional — but isn’t that what makes life interesting?
I’ve always worn many hats. I’ve run a boutique in my hometown of Falmouth, Cornwall, managed a print studio specialising in silk velvet devoré, launched an organic soap business, and hosted guests at a holiday cottage on my farm in Margaret River, Western Australia. Then there’s Cream Cornwall, the thriving homewares brand I co-founded back in the UK.
Yet no matter where life took me, one passion remained constant: travel.
I’ve spent 15 years soaking up the rugged beauty of Western Australia, a year immersed in Bali’s lush tranquillity (wish it had been longer!), and now I live in a 500-year-old pink cottage overlooking the Fal River in Feock. My partner and I are building our dream home in Cowaramup, WA so I’m fortunate to split my time between these two stunning places — and my business lets me embrace this beautiful duality.
As I’ve travelled, I’ve discovered incredible places — from windswept coastal paths in Cornwall to the serene rice terraces of Ubud, the vineyards of Margaret River, and the vibrant markets of Jaipur. Some I’ve explored first-hand; others are on my ever-growing bucket list, filled with recommendations from friends, family, and fellow travellers. Each one brims with potential for a meaningful escape.
But a great trip isn’t just about the destination; it’s also about where you stay. For me, the perfect place isn’t about glitz or glamour. It’s about those quiet luxuries that make a stay feel personal, authentic, and true to its location. Fresh, high-quality linen that you can sink into at the end of the day. Thoughtful toiletries that you’d actually want to use at home. A place with charm and character, something that’s interesting and elegant without being overdone. A proper shower — lots of hot water and good pressure, please! And value for money, because true luxury isn’t always about the price tag.
I can’t stand bland, generic hotel rooms where you could be anywhere.
This passion for curated, meaningful stays and inspiring destinations led me to launch Bespoke Escapes. I want to share the places and stays that excite me — those rich in aesthetics, authenticity, and understated luxury — with fellow travellers who crave the same. Every recommendation comes from my own experience or a trusted source, so disappointment isn’t on the itinerary.
Wellness is a big part of my life, and I love taking time to reset, manage stress, and build better habits for myself, it’s essential. It’s amazing how a few days in the right place can leave you feeling like a new person and set you up with a routine that lasts long after you return home.
